Transfers to NUSD and San Marin High School

Transfer Overview

If you are applying to the STEM Marin program and require an INTER-district or INTRA-district transfer, you need to submit your SPECIAL PROGRAMS TRANSFER application online between November 1, 2025 and January 9, 2026. All transfers need to be approved by NUSD before you can be considered for the program. Please do not delay in completing these online forms.

Please Note:

  • You do not need to wait for a transfer to be approved before completing the STEM application.
  • Be careful to apply for a SPECIAL PROGRAMS TRANSFER and not a General Transfer. Special Programs like STEM Marin have a separate transfer application than General Transfer students.
  • If your transfer is approved, you must remain in the STEM Program for your transfer to remain valid. If you leave the STEM Program, you will need to apply for a General Transfer or attend your neighborhood school.

INTER-District Transfers

INTER-District: You live outside of the Novato Unified School District. Here is what you will need in order to apply for an Inter-District transfer:

  1. Approved inter-district transfer application from your current district of residence
  2. Attendance report (provided by student’s current school)
  3. Discipline report (provided by your student’s current school, if no discipline records exist the school must provide you a letter on letterhead stating the student has no discipline records)
  4. Transcripts
  5. Copy of any special services your students receive

Any questions about transfers? Please contact the NUSD main office: (415) 493-4250

INTRA-District Transfers

Intra-District: You live in Novato, but San Marin is not your neighborhood school, you will need to apply for an INTRA-District transfer. Receiving approval for a transfer does not guarantee you will receive an offer to join the STEM program.
